A Delegation of University of California Riverside Visited HZU

On the morning of January 16, Professor Wang Jun, Assistant Dean of Marlan

and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) at UC Riverside, and

Professor Guo Juchen, Assistant Professor of Chemical and Environmental

Engineering Department at BCOE visited HZU, and were warmly received by

Vice President Liu Guodong and directors of International Affairs Department,

Academic Affairs Department and Scientific Research Management Department.  

In the meeting, Vice President Liu Guodong introduced the guests to the history

of HZU, size of faculty and students, programs offered and specialties of talent

cultivation. He said that HZU positively engages in education internationalization

by establishing cooperative relation with overseas universities and encourages

students to join in various kinds of international study programs, through which

to effectively broaden students’ horizon. In the meantime, HZU also puts emphasis

on developing students’ practical skills, thus the University has been building up

tight relation with enterprises or institutions. He also said that building up

cooperation with UC Riverside, an internationally reputable university, would

further promote internationalization of HZU, hoping that two universities could

jointly develop programs such as exchange of faculty and students, collaborative

research and recruitment.

Professor Wang Jun firstly expressed his gratitude for HZU’s warm reception. He said

that as a highly internationalized university, UC Riverside has established

cooperative relations with universities from 150 different countries and regions of

the world, and student body is formed by students from 65 different countries and

regions. In recent years, UC Riverside kept sound relationships with more than

20 China’s universities, jointly operating cooperative programs including exchange

of students, academic cooperation, training and collaborative research. At last,

he expressed his wish tofurther discuss how to promote possible forms of

cooperation between HZU and UC Riverside.

UC Riverside is one of the ten universities in the system of University of California,

enjoying national and global reputation. To initiate cooperation with UC Riverside

will positively promote HZU’s internationalization.
