INTERNATIONAL
Overview
The current position:homepage  INTERNATIONAL  Overview

The internationalization of higher education represents both a global trend in

higher education development and an imperative driven by economic

globalization—a natural and inevitable choice in the course of history. Opening

up in education is a defining feature and a key driving force of educational

modernization. China remains firmly committed to educational opening-up,

actively strengthening mutual learning, mutual accommodation, and mutual

connectivity with countries around the world to foster a more  comprehensive,

broader, multi-level, and proactive pattern of educational openness.

In recent years, HZU has adhered to the principle of open and collaborative

education, actively pursuing international exchange and cooperation to advance

high-standard educational opening-up. By establishing comprehensive, diversified,

and multi-level partnerships with renowned overseas universities, enterprises,

industries, and professional organizations, the university has co-hosted a wide

range of international cooperative education programs and built international

collaborative platforms for talent cultivation. Drawing on quality international

educational resources, we enrich students’ international learning and practical

experiences, nurturing them into high-caliber, application-oriented talents with a

global outlook and innovative mindset.

At present, the university has established exchange and cooperative relationships

with over 50 higher education institutions, professional organizations, and

industry enterprises across 13 countries—including the United States, the

United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Ukraine,

Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia—as well as Hong Kong,

Macao, and Taiwan districts. These partnerships have substantively advanced

international cooperative education, joint training programs, credit transfer

arrangements, overseas internships, cultural immersion experiences, faculty

development programs, and research collaboration, comprehensively expanding

the university’s channels for international exchange and cooperation. Outstanding

students are selected to study at partner institutions in the United States, the

United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan; to participate

in paid internships in the United States and Japan; and to engage in overseas

Chinese language teaching practicums in Thailand, Indonesia, and other countries.

I. Diverse Exchange and Cooperation Programs with

International Universities

The Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Program in Early Childhood Education,

jointly offered by our university and the University of North Alabama (USA), was

officially approved by the Ministry of Education in November 2021. This milestone

marks the university’s entry into a new stage of high-level, high-quality international

education and represents a significant achievement in accelerating and expanding

educational opening-up. It is the first 4+0, dual-registration, dual-degree Sino-

foreign cooperative program in early childhood education in Guangdong. Leveraging

the profound expertise in talent cultivation, the distinguished faculty, and the

cutting-edge educational philosophies of both our university and the University of

North Alabama in the field of early childhood education, the program aims to cultivate

outstanding preschool educators with noble professional ethics, deep passion for

education, and a global vision—thereby contributing to the development of the

Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a demonstration zone for

international education.

HZU maintains close partnerships with world-renowned, high-caliber universities

including the University of North Alabama (USA), Swansea University (UK), and

Macquarie University (Australia). Through these collaborations, we have launched

Sino-foreign joint training programs in our advantaged disciplines such as Financial

Management, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and

Network and New Media. Adopting a model of mutual credit recognition and dual

degree conferral between Chinese and foreign institutions, these programs achieve

shared program development and collaborative talent cultivation. Students are thus

able to build solid disciplinary foundations, acquire cutting-edge knowledge, and

broaden their horizons within quality educational environments both at home and

abroad, ultimately developing into high-caliber, internationally competent, application-

oriented talents with a global perspective and profound love for their country.

II. Deepening Exchange and Cooperation with

Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Districts

Seizing the opportunities presented by the development of the Guangdong-Hong

Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, our university has engaged in trilateral cooperation

with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Glorious Sun Group (HK) to

advance strategic collaboration on the deep integration of industry, university, and

research. This partnership explores substantive cooperation in scientific research,

talent cultivation, capacity building, platform development, and joint educational

initiatives. The university has also been approved to establish the Huizhou Youth

Learning and Education Base for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese,

continuously strengthening exchanges and cooperation with higher education

institutions, enterprises, and professional organizations in Hong Kong and Macao.

Collaborative relationships have been established with The Hong Kong Polytechnic

University, The Education University of Hong Kong, Macau University of Science and

Technology, City University of Macau, and Macau University of Tourism, encompassing

student exchange programs, faculty training, and research collaboration.

III. Building International Research Collaboration

Platforms

In collaboration with the research team of the National Technical University of

Ukraine, our university has established an international scientific research

cooperation platform. Centered on Huizhous key industries and priority

sectors—including petrochemicals, electronic information, and biotechnology -

the partnership conducts research collaboration across five major domains.

IV. Recruiting High-Caliber International Faculty

The university employs high-quality international faculty who participate

comprehensively in classroom instruction, disciplinary development, joint research,

and extracurricular activities. They offer courses taught entirely in foreign languages

or in Chinese-foreign bilingual formats, creating an international classroom and

learning environment that enhances students’ foreign language proficiency and

fosters greater cross-cultural understanding.

V. Creating an International Campus Environment

The university actively hosts short-term exchange programs for faculty and students

from overseas partner institutions. We have welcomed students from Trinity College

(USA), Jamestown University (USA), Capilano University (Canada), Sapporo University

(Japan), Kagoshima International University (Japan), Nagasaki University of Foreign

Studies (Japan), Osaka Tourism University (Japan), Soka University (Japan), STIE

Perbankan Indonesia (Indonesia), Indonesia International Tourism Business and

Creative Technology Institute, and Multimedia Nusantara Polytechnic (Indonesia) to

study Chinese language and experience traditional Chinese culture. These programs

practice peer-to-peer education between Chinese and international students,

promote mutual cultural learning, and foster a richly international campus

atmosphere.

The university will continue to uphold the philosophy of open and collaborative

education, guided by the principle that international education should serve

talent cultivation, faculty development, scientific research, and campus culture.

By drawing on world-class educational resources, we broaden students’

international horizons; by promoting international exchange and cooperation,

we elevate the international competence of our faculty in teaching, research,

and management; and by developing more advanced and interactive cultural

exchange programs, we further cultivate a vibrant international atmosphere

on campus. Through these comprehensive initiatives, we provide strong

support for cultivating high-caliber, application-oriented talents with a global

outlook and innovative capabilities!
