University Held Reading Sharing Session and

Reading Aloud Competition

Updated:29 April, 2026

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the university, promote the spirit

of labor and craftsmanship, and foster a strong scholarly campus culture, on the

afternoon of April 28, our university successfully held the Praising the Beauty of Labor,

Building Dreams in a New Era Reading Sharing Session and the Scholarly Huizhou

University, Eighty-Year Heritage Reading Aloud Competition in the Rehearsal Hall of the

School of Music. Nearly 200 people attended the event, including representatives from

the university's Trade Union and the Publicity and United Front Work Department,

representatives from the division-level trade union of the School of Marxism, members

of the Faculty and Staff Drama Association, and faculty and student representatives

from various secondary schools.

The event kicked off in a warm and solemn atmosphere. The first session was the

reading sharing segment, during which two teachers, You Shaohua and Shi Ruili, shared

their learning experiences and insights based on the book President Xi and His Worker

Friends, drawing from their own work and practical experiences. Their sincere and

insightful sharing guided the attending faculty and students to draw strength from the

care shown by the leader, further strengthening their original aspiration and mission

of fostering virtue and serving society.

In the reading aloud competition segment, 14 teams consisting of 31 teachers

passionately and sincerely presented poems to pay tribute to the 80th anniversary of

the university. The entries closely followed the theme of Praising the Beauty of Labor,

Building Dreams in a New Era, including heartfelt expressions looking back on the

university's history and looking forward to the future, resounding declarations

honoring laborers and promoting the spirit of craftsmanship, as well as poetic

expressions showcasing campus culture and a scholarly atmosphere.

Through the heartfelt recitations, touching stories of the original aspiration of

education, the spirit of striving, as well as perseverance, hard work, and harvest,

deeply moved the hearts of the audience. The resounding declarations honoring

laborers and promoting craftsmanship powerfully echoed the contemporary call that

labor is most glorious. The poetic expressions of campus culture and scholarly

ambiance allowed everyone to feel the unique cultural warmth of Huizhou

University. More importantly, in these ordinary yet sincere voices, the university

motto of Dignity, Discernment, Truth-seeking and Pragmatism was vividly presented:

in the silent dedication of library staff, in the subtle influence of counselors, in the

footsteps of rural science and technology commissioners as they take root in the

fields, and in the perseverance of three generations of teachers sharing the same

stage to pass on the torch—the spirit of the motto shines in every position.

Through their recitations, the contestants honored labor, celebrated craftsmanship,

and carried forward the university's history, fully demonstrating the uplifting spirit

of Huizhou University's faculty and students and their heartfelt tribute to the

university's 80-year journey.

After intense competition, works such as Witnessed by Mountains and Seas, This Heart

Will Never Move and Hearts of Three Generations of Teachers, Passing the Torch

Through Countless Volumes won the first prize. Eighty Years Forge a Glorious Chapter,

Craftsmanship Cultivates Talents, Scholarly Heart Guards the Original Aspiration,

Eighty-Year Journey, and Ode to Labor won the second prize. Scholarly Huizhou

University, Craftsmanship Builds Dreams, Lotus Nourishes Pengying, Craftsmanship

Passes the Torch, Cultivating Stars with Craftsmanship, Eighty-Year Torch, Labor and

Scholarly Fragrance won the third prize. The remaining works received excellence

awards.

This reading sharing session and reading aloud competition is an important part of

the series of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of our

university. By combining reading and recitation, the event guided faculty and students

to reflect on their original aspirations through scholarly works and convey strength

through their voices, further inspiring a sense of responsibility and mission to love

and honor the university and uphold virtue and dedication, adding a rich cultural

atmosphere to the 80th anniversary celebrations.

Standing at the new starting point of the 80th anniversary, the university will continue

to uphold its original aspiration and mission of educating people for the Party and the

nation, carry forward the motto of Dignity, Discernment, Truth-seeking and

Pragmatism, deepen the construction of a scholarly campus, cultivate people through

culture, education, labor, and craftsmanship, and unite and lead all faculty and students

to strive with an even more vigorous spirit, rooted in Huizhou and serving the

Greater Bay Area, to write a new chapter in building a high-level application-oriented

university in the new era.
