Huizhou University

Eight Decades of Splendor, with the songs of education resounding unceasingly

In 2026, Huizhou University will celebrate the 80th anniversary of its founding. 

On this occasion, we wish to express our most sincere gratitude and highest 

respect to all the leaders at every level, alumni at home and abroad, friends from 

all walks of life, and all faculty, staff and students, who have long shown concern 

for and lent support to the University’s construction and development.

Eight Decades of Glory, Passing the Torch from Generation to Generation

Huizhou University traces its roots back to the Guangdong Provincial Huizhou 

Normal School founded in 1946. It has since evolved through significant stages 

as Huiyang Normal College and Huizhou University (the institutional name prior to 

its upgrading), before being elevated to a full bachelor’s degree-granting institution 

in 2000 and authorized to confer master’s degrees in 2024. Inheriting the 

eight-century-long cultural lineage of Fenghu Academy, the University has taken firm 

root in the fertile soil of Huizhou, flourished vigorously, and dedicated itself 

unremittingly across the vast Lingnan region. It has always advanced in step with the 

nation’s development, resonated with the tide of the times, and striven, through 

“the commitment of Huizhou University,” to fulfill the historic mission of cultivating 

talent for the Party and the country.

Eight Decades of Cultivation, Bringing Forth a Galaxy of Talent
Over the past eighty years, the University has upheld its motto — “Cultivate Virtue 

and Discernment, Pursue Truth and Apply Knowledge” — and its scholastic spirit — 

“A Garden of Nurtured Talents, Where All Eagerly Strive for Learning.” Rooted in 

Huizhou, integrated into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, 

serving Guangdong, and reaching across the entire nation, it has nurtured over 

200,000 outstanding graduates, made remarkable contributions to regional economic 

and social development, and established itself as a vital cradle of talent in the 

Dongjiang River Basin. Today, Huizhou University is fully implementing the fundamental 

task of fostering virtue through education, making determined efforts to govern and 

build itself with ever-deepening strength. It is advancing steadily toward the goal of 

becoming a high-level applied university with distinctive characteristics, writing a new 

chapter for Huizhou University in the grand journey of national rejuvenation and 

building a leading nation in education.

Eight Decades of Shared Purpose, Embarking on a New Journey

As this coincides with the inauguration of the 15th Five-Year Plan, and in order to comprehensively review the past, plan for the future with scientific foresight, and forge 

a strong consensus on development, the University will organize a series of academic

exchanges and alumni fellowship activities, and will hold the 80th Anniversary High-

Quality Development Conference on November 28, 2026. We warmly welcome leaders 

at all levels, alumni from home and abroad, and distinguished friends from all sectors 

to graciously set aside time to join us, renew long-cherished bonds, partake in this 

grand celebration, and together usher in a brilliant future for Huizhou University.
