To deepen exchanges and cooperation in higher education between Guangdong and
Hong Kong, and build a collaborative bridge for teaching, research and talent training in
fashion design, over 20 teachers and students from The Hong Kong Institute of
Vocational Education (IVE), led by Assistant Professor Zhang Ling and accompanied by
Yang Yaoji, Director of the Jeanswest E-commerce Brand Image Department, visited the
School of Fashion on October 30. Chen Xuejun, Dean of the School, Suo Li, Vice Dean,
and relevant faculty representatives warmly received the guests and attended the
symposium.

At the beginning of the exchange, Suo Li led the visiting group on a tour of the school’s
teaching facilities, Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and student exhibition
area. During the visit, Suo Li introduced in detail the school’s development history,
disciplinary characteristics, faculty structure and operation of faculty and student
studios.

At the symposium, Zhang Ling briefed the guests on IVE’s founding background, faculty
and teaching conditions, and spoke highly of the School of Fashion’s achievements in
disciplinary development, talent training and innovative practice. Representatives from
IVE also presented portfolios of outstanding student design works on site.
During the discussion session, both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on core topics
including the application of digital technology in fashion design, cultivation of
innovative design concepts, and development of students’ practical abilities, sharing
experience in curriculum innovation and research project implementation.

This exchange enhanced mutual understanding of each other’s educational
characteristics and teaching achievements, established a direct dialogue platform for
fashion teachers and students in Guangdong and Hong Kong, and helped both sides
keep abreast of cutting-edge trends in fashion design. It laid the foundation for regular
exchanges and cooperation, and will further promote complementary advantages and
common development in teaching reform and joint talent training in fashion design,
continuously injecting educational momentum into the high-quality development of
the Guangdong–Hong Kong fashion industry.
